Meet our Governors

Our governing body act in the best interests of all our pupils at Westminster Nursery School. The governing body have an important part to play in raising school standards through their key roles of setting strategic direction, ensuring accountability and monitoring and evalulating school performance.   We are delighted that our governors are frequent visitiors to the school and engage readily with both staff and pupils.

Headteacher - Mrs Elizabeth Hulse

The Governors are an important part of our team. They know the school well and are able to relate to our individual situation as the only maintained Nursery School in Cheshire East. The Governors fulfil the role of being able to focus on the quality of teaching, learning and the outcomes of our pupils.

The Governors have regular contact with school and are involved in the school development plan. They have sub-committees which meet each term and then report back to the full Governing body meeting. It is important that the Governors question and challenge us as staff. They act on a strategic basis in their support of school and ensure the correct procedures are followed to promote the best possible education for the children in our care.

Chair of Governors - Councillor Mrs Dorothy Flude

As a local Councillor it is a pleasure to be involved with Westminster Nursery School. I have known the nursery for a number of years now. It is an excellent facility for children under 5 years of age in Crewe South. While we all recognise that play and care is important in a young child's life, their education is vital to their future.

At Westminster Nursery School the key to this lock is turned in the right direction so that all children who attend have an excellent start in life.

Vice Chair of Governors - Mrs Donna Reed

Hello I was a Headteacher for 13 years at Pebble Brook Primary School and during that time became a LLE (Local Leader in Education supporting two schools. After retiring I was asked to become a Governor at two schools, one of which was Westminster Nursery School. I was also involved in leading a school improvement team in Stoke, but have since concentrated on my Governor roles, plus looking after grandchildren. I am the Chair of the Finance Committee at Westminster Nursery School.

Health & Safety Governor - Mrs Liz Austin

Before my retirement I worked in education as a Primary School Teacher for 40 years. For nearly 30 years of this time I worked as a Reception Teacher. I feel very privileged to be a Governor of Westminster Nursery School and as such have been a Governor for 20 years now. I am the Chair of the Premises Committee.

Staff Governor - Mrs Janet Jardine

I have been associated with Westminster Nursery for a number of years both as a parent and currently as a member of staff. As a staff governor I also represent a position on the Finance and Premises Committees. The nursery has a long-standing reputation of providing quality nursery education and my position as a Governor is to maintain this status for the future.

Staff Governor - Mrs Emma Connor

I am a Lead Teacher at Westminster Nursery School and I work in the Butterflies room.

Parent Governor - Mrs Stacey Bracegirdle

All 3 of my children have attended Westminster Nursery School. I have been a Governor for a few years now and I enjoy the role and getting more involved with the Nursery School.

Co-opted Governor - Mrs Dawn Clark

I was born in Crewe and have continued to live and work here. I attended Pebble Brook Infants, where I am now vice Chair of Governors, and Edleston Road Junior. I went on to attend Kingsgrove High School and South Cheshire College before joining Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council where I started as an Accounts Clerk, and today work for Cheshire East Council as a Community Development Manager. I am passionate about supporting the residents of Crewe through my work, creating more resilient communities. I am currently supporting groups tackling homelessness, social isolation and safeguarding.  I am Married and have one Son and a Ginger Cat. I believe that receiving the best possible early education is important as a building block for all, and want to ensure that Westminster Nursery continues to provide this for all who attend.

Co-opted Governor - PCSO Stuart France
