Meet our Governors

MEET OUR GOVERNORS

Our governing body act in the best interests of all our pupils at Westminster Nursery School. The governing body have an important part to play in raising school standards through their key roles of setting strategic direction, ensuring accountability and monitoring and evalulating school performance.   We are delighted that our governors are frequent visitors to the school and engage readily with both staff and pupils.

Headteacher - Mrs Elizabeth Hulse

The Governors are an important part of our team. They know the school well and are able to relate to our individual situation as the only maintained Nursery School in Cheshire East. The Governors fulfil the role of being able to focus on the quality of teaching, learning and the outcomes of our pupils.

The Governors have regular contact with school and are involved in the school development plan. They have sub-committees which meet each term and then report back to the full Governing body meeting. It is important that the Governors question and challenge us as staff. They act on a strategic basis in their support of school and ensure the correct procedures are followed to promote the best possible education for the children in our care.

Local Authority Governor - Connor Naismith

Cllr Connor Naismith (002).pngI am currently a Cheshire East Councillor representing the Crewe West ward, which neighbours the ward where Westminster Nursery School is situated. I am really honoured to have been asked to take up the role of local authority appointed governor at Westminster as I am passionate about the value of good Early Years education in giving our children a solid foundation in terms of their education but also their social and emotional wellbeing. I am also particularly pleased to join the board of governors at one of the few remaining Maintained nursery schools, and to follow in the footsteps of the last local authority appointed governor at Westminster, Dorothy Flude, whose legacy in terms of involvement at the school and the wider community speaks for itself. Dorothy will be a tough act to follow, but I promise to do my best!
